Union Grove-based industrial roller manufacturer American Roller Co. plans to build a new 52,000-square-foot facility in Union Grove to replace its existing building in nearby Kansasville.
The company currently has two buildings on its headquarters campus at 1400 13th Ave. in Union Grove, as well as the existing 40,000-square-foot Kansasville Plasma Coatings division facility. They total 190,000 square feet.
The project will include new equipment, which will expand capabilities to include processing the full line of Plasma Coatings products. The building and equipment represent a $4 million investment, and American Roller plans to add an additional 20 employees by 2019, said Nicolae Epping, marketing specialist.
American Roller is constructing a new building because the existing facility was deteriorating, she said.
“(We) did consider other locations in the U.S., too,” Epping said. “We didn’t want to get rid of the employees that we already had in Kansasville, so that will make it easier.”
American Roller plans to complete the building by November and begin operations there by February.
In all, American Roller has two divisions comprising 10 locations worldwide. It serves the paper, textile, film/foil, tissue/towel, printing and packaging and steel mill markets. The company has 400 employees, 150 of whom are in Wisconsin.
American Roller will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, May 16. Gov. Scott Walker will be in attendance.
