Bader Philanthropies to back workforce development programs with more than $1.6M

More than $1.6 million from Bader Philanthropies, Inc.’s pocketbook will be spread among 23 organizations at the helm of workforce development initiatives in southeastern Wisconsin.Workforce development-148575200-Shutterstock.jpg

The Milwaukee-based foundation, which has pumped more than $25 million into area workforce development efforts throughout its history, has flagged $1,612,400 in its latest grant cycle for workforce development.

Funds distributed during fall 2015 add up to more than $8.1 million and are also benefiting projects and organizations addressing Alzheimer’s and aging as well as community partnerships for youth, arts and education.

Dollars earmarked for workforce development will aid job preparation programs, skills training and work experiences for unemployed residents.

Specific grants to be awarded by Bader Philanthropies include:

*A three-year, $600,000 grant to Milwaukee Area Workforce Funding Alliance, Inc.
*A two-year $60,000 grant to HeartLove Place, Inc.
*A two-year $80,000 grant to Meta House, Inc.
*A two-year $20,000 grant to 9 to 5 National Association of Working Women, Inc.
*A two-year $80,000 grant and a separate $100,000 grant to ArtWorks for Milwaukee, Inc.
*A $31,100 grant to Association of Black Foundation Executives
*A $50,000 grant to Grand Avenue Club, Inc.
*A $10,000 grant to Infallible Helping Hands Inc.
*A $10,000 grant to Journey House, Inc.
*A $50,000 grant to Milwaukee Area Workforce Investment Board, Inc.
*A $25,000 grant to Milwaukee Center for Independence, Inc.
*A $30,000 grant to Northwest Side Community Development Corporation
*A two-year $80,000 grant to Operation DREAM, Inc.
*A $20,000 grant to St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care, Inc.
*A $7,500 grant to STEM Forward, Inc.
*A $50,000 grant to the Cathedral Center, Inc.
*A $75,000 grant to Uniting Garden Homes, Inc.
*A $20,000 grant to Urban Economic Development Association of Wisconsin, Inc.
*A $10,000 grant to WE GROW GREENS INC.
*A $143,800 grant to Wisconsin Philanthropy Network, Inc.
*A $15,000 grant to Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corporation
*A $20,000 grant to Wiscraft, Inc.
*A $25,000 grant to Young Women’s Christian Association Southeast Wisconsin, Inc.
