The Racine Art Museum has announced that nationally known artist Bill Reid will design it’s RAM on the Road’s exterior paint job
The Racine Art Museum has announced that nationally known artist and Racine native, Bill Reid will design it’s RAM on the Road’s exterior paint job. RAM on the Road, also known as Wustum on Wheels for the Museum’s second location, is a program designed to bring art and the opportunity to create art to kids and adults in the community. Ried will design and paint the exterior paint job of the RAM on the Road vehicle.
"We are thrilled that RAM has been able to commission Reid to create the fanciful, highly imaginative exterior for the RAM on the Road vehicle," said Bruce Pepich, executive director and curator of collections at the Racine Art Museum.
Known for his metal sculptures of whimsical creatures, Reid will create colorful paintings of artistic animals that represent the hands-on art experiences the automobile will bring to the community. In 2007, the Museum featured the Bill Reid “Wheels” exhibit, which featured a number of vehicle art pieces that Reid had created and ranged from sculptural pedal cars to modified, street-legal automobiles.
The Racine Art Museum will reveal Reid’s design at a special event on Sunday, May 8 at 3 p.m. On Friday, May 13, the RAM on the Road program will kick off at Kids Day at RAM from 3 to 6:30 p.m. at the Museum. This event is free for children under 12 years, when accompanied by an adult paying regular $5 museum admission.
