Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin nearly doubled the goal of its fifth annual “Food for the Holidays” campaign after pulling together more than 1.9 million meals for area residents in need over the holiday season.
The campaign originally set out to provide one million meals through both food and monetary donations made in November and December.
“We would like to thank the many generous donors who helped make the holidays brighter for families struggling with hunger,” Bonnie Bellehumeur, president of Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, said in a statement.

According to Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, about 377,000 people turn to the organization for food each year. Donations will continue to be accepted at www.feedingamericawi.org.
