Milwaukee-based Professional Dimensions, a network organization serving professional women, is seeking nominations for the 2013 Sacagawea Award.

The award is named after Sacagawea, the Native American woman who travelled with Lewis and Clark on their expedition to the Pacific Coast, and honors two area “women who inspire” in line with the organization’s motto. Nominees will have made significant achievements in their professional fields and will have exhibited considerable commitment to the community. Winners will be honored at an awards dinner on March 13, 2013.

“Professional Dimensions knows that personal strength and the ability to meet challenges are key components of success in the workplace in the 21st century,” said Tracey Sparrow, vice president of children’s programs at Milwaukee Center for Independence and chair of the Sacagawea event. “To successfully anticipate and adapt to a rapidly changing environment, leaders and managers must demonstrate open-mindedness, flexibility, the ability to encourage others and to continually search for new ideas.”

Sparrow said the award will recognize women who have effectively addressed these challenges.
