City hotel biz continues post-recession recovery

Chicago’s hotel industry continues its recovery from the great recession doldrums.

According to a statement issued overnight by Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s office, occupancy through September of this year is up 4.9 percent, with just over three quarters of rooms (75.4 percent) filled on an average night. The figure in September was up even higher, hitting 86.2 percent compared with 79.7 percent in the same month in 2011.
