With less than two weeks left to sign up for coverage in the health insurance marketplace, a consortium of healthcare, community and insurance agent organizations are sponsoring digital ‘count down’ billboards in the Milwaukee area.
Located at key traffic points near I-94, I-43, I-794 and Hwy 45, the billboards are “intended spur procrastinating consumers to action and remind the public that 2-1-1 is available to refer callers to enrollment assistance resources,” said the Milwaukee Health Care Partnership and the Milwaukee Enrollment Network in a press release.
The MKEN members sponsoring the count down billboards are: Arise Health Plan, Black Health Coalition of Wisconsin, Community Advocates, Legal Action / Senior Law, Milwaukee Health Care Partnership, City of Milwaukee Health Department, Reproductive Justice, Transition Health Benefits and the Rauser Agency.
“Despite the rocky start to the healthcare.gov website, we’ve seen a dramatic increase in insurance enrollment in the last several weeks,” says Joy Tapper, executive director of the Milwaukee Health Care Partnership. “Whether working with enrollment assistors, local insurance agents or signing up directly in the Marketplace, we know that many individuals are becoming more informed about their options and understand the importance of having adequate health care coverage.”
“We are especially grateful to the City of Milwaukee Health Department, who worked with media partner, Clear Channel Outdoors to secure the billboards,” notes Molly Bandt, director of Covering Kids & Families. “Each day until March 31st, the message will count down the days left for open enrollment. We hope people will call 2-1-1 to find free enrollment help near them. There are over thirty education and enrollment events scheduled throughout the Milwaukee community through the end of March.”
MKEN is hosting several enrollment events before open enrollment ends on March 31. A list of these events can be found here.
