Market Probe Inc., Milwaukee, recently acquired UP-Point China. UP-Point, which was named the most influential marketing planning agency by the Chinese Strategic Planning Association (CSPA) in 2005, is recognized as a long-term market research partner to many multi-national companies in China and large-scale Chinese enterprises. The new business entity will be known as Market Probe China. The acquisition comes as Market Probe was recently ranked by Inside Research Magazine as the second fastest growing of the top 35 global market research firms based upon the company’s $41.4 million in annual global revenues, and five-year growth rate of 154 percent. Market Probe was also recently listed as 24th largest U.S.-based marketing research firm by global revenue on the annual Honomichl list of Top 50 U.S. Research Firms. UP-Point has extensive industry experience in the fields of telecom operation, IT, universal industrial products, fast consumables, construction and real estate. The firm’s capabilities include specific research, consumer satisfaction research, mystery shopper research, as well as market research, public opinion and social behavior research.
Sanborn Tube Sales Inc.
Sanborn, a Waukesha-based distributor of ferrous and non ferrous tubing, extrusions and fabricated parts, recently announced the ISO 9001:2000 certification of its quality management system.
Medical College of Wisconsin
The Medical College of Wisconsin, Wauwatosa, recently received a two-year, $416,625 grant from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute to develop stem cell-based therapies to treat portions of the heart that have died from a heart attack. The research may lead to development of new ways to treat tissue damaged by heart attack that are less invasive and better tolerated by patients. The stem cells are derived from federally-approved stem cell lines. Ming Zhao, assistant professor of biophysics, is principal investigator for the grant. Zhao will develop stem cells to specifically recognize and bind to tissues damaged by a heart attack. The stem cells are expected to replace and regenerate the damaged tissue. Cardiac repair by stem cell implantation has shown promise as a post-heart attack therapy, but the use of stem cells to treat tissue damaged by a heart attack is currently uncommon because of a low retention rate of stem cells to damaged sites. The goal of this study is to make stem cells capable of recognizing and binding to damaged tissues.

Talent Network Group, a business which provides recruitment services in the banking and financial services industry, recently received national certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise by the regional certifying partner of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). WBENC’s national standard of certification is a meticulous process including an in-depth review of the business and site inspection. The certification process is designed to confirm the business is at least 51 percent owned, operated and controlled by a woman or women.
ProHealth Care
The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) has honored ProHealth Care’s Vicki Dallmann-Papke, director of employee health and wellness, with the 2008 Nurse Practitioner Advocate Award. The AANP gives this award annually to a dedicated nurse practitioner advocate in each state who has made a significant contribution to the status of health care delivery and practice of registered nurses.
Mount Mary College
Mount Mary College, Milwaukee, recently received two grants to support a high school pilot of its successful Urban Education Fellows Program. The Greater Milwaukee Foundation’s Burke Foundation Fund awarded $80,400 and the Greater Milwaukee Foundation’s Walter and Olive Stiemke Fund presented $53,600 to the program. The Urban Education Fellows Program trains professionals for new careers as teachers. Professionals who already have their bachelors degree go through a two-year program that earns them their teacher’s license and a master of arts degree in education while they are placed in an independent, private, parochial or charter school in Milwaukee. The grants support the expansion of the program to the high school level.
The Arthritis Foundation
The Arthritis Foundation, Wisconsin Chapter, West Allis, recently earned the following awards at the 2008 National Staff and Development Conference in Atlanta:
Silver Development Awards are given to recognize chapters for their fundraising of $100,000- $249,999 which goes to support important research, programs and services for individuals with arthritis. The 2007 Jingle Bell Run/Walk held at the Milwaukee County Zoo earned over $120,000. The 2007 Mystery Ball held at the Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee earned over $150,000. Information Technology Awards are given to recognize individuals at chapters for their innovative uses of technology to support programs and special events. The Kintera Innovation Award is given to an individual who used the Kintera software in new and creative ways to support programs and special events. The award was given to the Milwaukee chapter’s information systems manager, Annette Frymark. Public Policy and Advocacy Awards are given to recognize chapters for their outstanding work in advocacy. The Advocacy Ambassador Leadership Award is given to a chapter for the highest percentage of districts covered. Professional Achievement Awards are given to staff members from across the country who have been nominated for their outstanding performance in their given field. The Chapter Administrative Staff award was given to Frymark as well for “above and beyond” work at the Milwaukee chapter. Service Recognition Awards are given to staff members in honor of their years of service to the Arthritis Foundation. Frymark and Lori Obluck received 5-year pins. Arthritis Foundation Volunteer Awards are given to volunteers from across the country who have been nominated for their outstanding volunteer work with the Arthritis Foundation. The Gala Excellence Award was given to Kerry Shaffer who works at Johnson Bank in Racine, for her outstanding leadership as the Mystery Ball chairperson. She has been chair of the planning committee since 2005.
IDL Solutions Inc.
IDL Solutions, Germantown, recently announced that it has won two contract awards with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. IDL received the first award to provide CMS Office of Information Services with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Data Support Services through 2013. IDL won the second award to provide CMS Disabled and Elderly Health Programs Group (DEHPG) with IT services for software development, maintenance, hosting, and training—also through 2013.

D2 Sales, Mequon, recently announced that the Dean Health Systems of Madison has chosen the My Patient Passport Express kiosk for its patient check-in program. The My Patient Passport Express kiosk allows patients to check-in, make future appointments, and update their medical history, all using a touchscreen system. Patients can use their credit card to make co-pay payments, and sign documents using the integrated electronic signature pad. The D2 My Patient Passport Express kiosk provides patients with the convenience of easy check-in, records updating, co-pay payment acceptance and way finding and mapping features.

Avicom Marketing Communications, Waukesha, recently opened an East Coast office located in Montville, N.J., less than 30 minutes outside of Manhattan.
