The Wisconsin Coastal Management program has awarded the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center with a prestigious grant.
The Center has formed two new courses that will support the Coastal management programs effort to expand Great Lakes education. The courses will be offered to elementary and secondary schools in southeastern Wisconsin during the regularly scheduled school year. In addition, special outreach and on-site family events will also be held at the Nature Center. The two new courses include Lake Michigan: A Migratory Path to Survival where students will learn how more than 300 species of birds use the Lake Michigan Flyway and why they migrate. The second class being offered is Our Great Lakes: The Liquid of Life which will give students an up-close look at Lake Michigan. Students will build a watershed on the beach and learn about protecting and preserving the Great Lakes.
