Chicago-based Molson Coors Beverage Company and the Greater Milwaukee Urban League announced today that they will partner to launch a networking group for local Black entrepreneurs, called the GMUL Entrepreneurship Connection.
As part of the program – which includes year-round networking opportunities – members will have access to the Black Entrepreneur Initiative platform, which provides resources, tools and ongoing support to grow their businesses and access capital.
“Molson Coors is committed to championing diversity and closing the racial wealth gap across our hometown communities,” said Michael Nordman, senior manager of community affairs for Molson Coors. “We’re thrilled to partner with GMUL to launch the Entrepreneurship Connection, which will empower Milwaukee’s diverse entrepreneurs and small businesses.”
In 2021, Molson Coors partnered with the New York-based nonprofit The Lonely Entrepreneur to provide 200 Black entrepreneurs in Milwaukee, Chicago and Denver one year of free access to the “one-stop-shop” learning platform. Of the participants, 78% gained new customers and 66% increased their revenue, according to Molson Coors.
“Greater Milwaukee Urban League is proud to call Bronzeville – the location of Milwaukee’s economic and social hub from the 1900s to the 1960s – home,” said Eve Hall, president and CEO of GMUL. “We look forward to partnering with Molson Coors to provide this generation of African American entrepreneurs with the skills and support needed for success.”
