Guy & O’Neill Inc., a private label and contract manufacturer based in Fredonia, plans to build a $3.7 million expansion that will add 132,000 square feet to its facilities on Industrial Drive.
The company is also looking to add 15 to 20 employees to its current workforce of roughly 140. The company has added 15 employees since May, said Tom Misgen, Guy & O’Neill executive vice president and chief operating officer.
“We’ve been growing quite a bit,” Misgen said.
Guy & O’Neill had roughly 60,000 square feet of space a little more than a decade ago and currently has 330,000 square feet. The latest addition will be constructed to the south of the current facility and bring its total size to 462,000 square feet. The addition will have a 29-foot roof and will be used for manufacturing and warehousing, freeing up space for other operations.
“The increase in space is long overdue,” Misgen said.
There really hasn’t been one particular segment driving the company’s growth, Misgen said. Guy & O’Neill produces wet wipes and liquid fill products. The company has seen an increase in business as uses for wet wipes have expanded into personal care, household, cleaning and other uses.
“It’s really been a growth vehicle for the business,” he said.
Guy & O’Neill also added its liquid fill capabilities roughly five years ago. The segment, which includes cleaners, sprays and pharmaceuticals, has also been doing well for the company, Misgen said.
The company is working out the details of its municipal approvals for the expansion project. The plan is to break ground this fall and take occupancy of the new facility sometime next year.
