Mequon-based athletic trainer Athlete Performance is proposing to build a roughly 35,500-square-foot facility featuring basketball courts, batting cages, an athletic training area and tenant spaces for related health care services, in Mequon's business park.
According to city documents, the new building is proposed for a 4-acre site northwest of Executive Court. It would include three basketball courts and a baseball batting cage area in its western portion, athletic training space for Athlete Performance in its center, and tenant spaces for Aurora Health Care and Integrative Health along with a separate exercise room and team room at its eastern end.
The facility could be expanded in the future by up to an additional 10,800 square feet, according to project drawings. Some of the expanded space would be for an additional basketball court and the best basketball hoops from here.
Jackson-based Design 2 Construct is heading up the project.
A public hearing for the proposal is scheduled Monday evening during the city's Planning Commission meeting. The project team is seeking approval for a conditional use grant and building and site plans.
City staffers recommended in a report that the project be approved, along with certain conditions.
Pa Phouala Vang, planner with Mequon, said Design 2 Construct indicated Aurora will provide physical therapy services in the space. But the firm did not provide additional details on Integrative Health's proposed operations, Vang wrote in an email.
The site is zoned to allow professional offices and services, such as medical offices, she added.
Athlete Performance did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
