Cindy Bird joined Smart Interactive Media, Thiensville, as a media designer and producer.

Bader Rutter & Associates, Milwaukee, promoted Sarah Kmet-Hunt to associate creative director in the creative group and hired Jennifer Novotny as an account executive in the public relations group. Kmet-Hunt joined Bader Rutter in 2002 and most recently served as an art director. Novotny previously served as a public relations counselor for Bottom Line Marketing and Public Relations, Milwaukee.

Matthew Rogan joined Zeppos & Associates, Milwaukee, as a receptionist.

Banking & Finance

Ozaukee Bank, Cedarburg, hired Larry Larsen as vice president of business banking and Rusty Katz as vice president of commercial real estate. Larson has more than 25 years of business banking experience. Katz has 35 years of experience in multifamily and commercial real estate lending.

Layton State Bank, New Berlin, promoted Jody Moore to executive assistant to the president, Carla Breunig. Moore joined Layton State Bank in 1981 and most recently served as an administrative assistant.

Community Bank & Trust, Sheboygan, hired Jerry Jensen as vice president of commercial and agricultural lending and Matthew Jaworski as loan review officer. Jensen has more than 22 years of financial experience. Jaworski has more than seven years of banking experience and will be located at the Taylor Drive office, Sheboygan.

Building & Construction

Joe Shortreed joined the team of Vista Design & Construction, Milwaukee, as manager of facilities construction. Shortreed has more than 17 years of experience in the construction industry.

Jamie Strupp joined VJS Construction Services, Pewaukee, as accounts receivable bookkeeper. Strupp holds an associate’s degree in accounting from MATC.

Education

Concordia University Wisconsin, Mequon, named Russ DeLap head men’s cross country coach and hired Amanda Kuca as an assistant women’s cross country coach and indoor and outdoor track assistant. DeLap also serves as athletic training education program director. Kuca is a 2006 graduate of Concordia, a seven-time track and cross country All American and Concordia Women’s Athlete of the Year in 2006.

Stephen Sweeny, president of The College of New Rochelle, New Rochelle, N.Y., joined the board of trustees for Alverno College, Milwaukee. Sweeny joined The College of New Rochelle in 1981 and has served as president since 1997.

Charles Shudson of von Briesen & Roper, Milwaukee, joined the board of directors for La Causa, Milwaukee. Shudson serves as senior counsel and chair of von Briesen & Roper’s appellate advocacy division.

Engineering

Jason Paukner joined the Kenosha office of Clark Dietz, Champaign, Ill., as a land planner. Paukner has seven years of experience as a planner in both the public and private sectors.

Funeral Services

Timothy Penno joined the Wisconsin Funeral Directors Association (WFDA), Milwaukee, as executive director. Penno previously served as the legislative and regulatory analyst for the WFDA from 1992 to 1997. Penno most recently served as the executive director for the Northeastern Illinois Sheet Metal & Air Conditioning Contractors Association, Elgin, Ill.

Government Organizations

Sandy Sannes, vice president of Lauber & Co., Milwaukee, will serve as president of the board of directors for the Greater Brookfield Chamber of Commerce. Sannes is a member of the Recruiter Network, Human Resource Management Association of Southeast Wisconsin and Interfaith Advisory Employment Resource Committee.

Craig Farrell joined the West Bend Area Chamber of Commerce, West Bend, as executive director. Farrell most recently served as senior vice president of sales and marketing for the Baymont Inn and Suites, Milwaukee.

Health Care

Dr. Gary Ross joined Community Health Charities of Wisconsin (CHCW), Milwaukee, as director of strategic development and research. Steve Corbisier of Irwin Union Bank, Columbus, Ind.; Franciene Gill of the Metropolitan Milwaukee YMCA; David Kemp
of Virchow, Krause & Co., Madison; Sheila Mayhorn of Healthcare for the Homeless, Orlando, Fla. and Britt Zarling of Manpower, Glendale, joined the board of directors. Raejean Kanter of Forest Potawatomi Community Foundation, Milwaukee, will serve as board member emeritus.

Hospitality

Marc Bianchini, owner of Osteria del Mondo, Milwaukee and Cubanitas, Milwaukee, joined the Oak Creek location of Juan’s Mexicali, Aurora, Colo. Bianchini has more than 25 years of experience in the restaurant business.

Manufacturing

Visual Systems, Milwaukee, promoted Shirley Ehlert to director of manufacturing and Brad Brogan to director of sales. Ehlert most recently served as controller for Visual Systems for 12 years. Brogan most recently served as national sales manager for four years.

Publishing

Kalmbach Books, Waukesha, promoted Mark Thompson to editor in chief. Thompson previously served as editor for FineScale Modeler, a magazine published by Kalmbach Publishing.

Bill Hernke joined Shorewest Realtors, Brookfield, as an agent in the Menomonee Falls office. Hernke has eight years of experience in the real estate industry.
