Hebron House of Hospitality, a Waukesha-based emergency shelter and homeless nonprofit organization, has named Maureen Atwell as its acting executive director.
Atwell was previously director of the Waukesha County Child Support Division since 2015.
Hebron House provides emergency, low-barrier, short-term shelter and long-term housing for individuals and families. It operates three homeless shelters and two housing units for low-income individuals emerging from homelessness.
It also works to prevent homelessness through outreach and education, using a Housing First approach to connect individuals with affordable housing and providing case management services to families and individuals who are currently housed.
During the organization’s leadership transition, Atwell will oversee all operations and staff.
Previously, Atwell was a Milwaukee County assistant district attorney from 2008-‘15.
