Mequon-based
Copps Industries Inc. plans to build a new 78,200 square-foot headquarters in Mequon. The new facility will include space for offices, research and development and production and manufacturing.
According to city documents, the new building is proposed for a 7.7-acre site east of Commerce Street and south of Executive Drive in Mequon’s business park – just under one mile from Copps' current headquarters in Mequon at 10600 Industrial Drive.
The new headquarters is nearly four times larger than its old facility, which will allow Copps to warehouse more product on site, and turn certain temporary positions to full-time jobs, said Copps president Greg Palmer.
“We’ve been growing and renting outside warehouses for the last two years and we’ve really been working on this past year engineering a new building to put all of our items under one roof,” Palmer said.
The plans for the building show 9,200 square feet for offices and 69,000 square feet for the manufacturing area. However, plans allow for a future 24,750-square-foot addition to the north for the manufacturing portion of the building.
Palmer expects construction will begin in April with occupancy taking place in early 2022.
Copps currently employs 25 office staff and 35 production and manufacturing staff. Founded in 1979, Copps designs and manufactures resins for a broad range of markets including civil engineering, aggregate/mining, structural adhesives and electric and electronics.
The company offers over 500 products and provides sales, customer service, product development and technical support to over 400 customers in 27 countries, according to Copps'
