Prior to the awards program, the event featured a luncheon and robust dialogue among entrepreneurs and innovators who shared their stories – and lessons learned along the way.

Awards honor the region’s most creative and successful entrepreneurs, as well as the most innovative products, services or processes developed by Southeastern Wisconsin companies.

This year’s Bravo! Entrepreneur Lifetime Achievement Award winner and featured speaker is Dr. Valerie Daniels-Carter, President/CEO – V & J Holding Companies, Inc.

Daniels-Carter will participate in a Q&A with BizTimes Milwaukee editor Andrew Weiland to discuss her entrepreneurial journey and provide insights on how to grow a startup venture into an industry leader.

In 1982 Valerie Daniels-Carter and her brother, John, started V&J Foods, with a single Burger King restaurant location. Daniels-Carter, the president and CEO of Milwaukee-based V&J, grew the business significantly over the years. Within 16 years V&J had 137 restaurants under multiple brands. Today the business has units under several brands including Burger King, Pizza Hut, Auntie Anne’s, Coffee Beanery, Haagen-Dazs, My Yo My! Fozen Yogurt, Nino’s Southern Sides and Captain D’s. V&J is the largest female-owned food service franchise organization in the country.
