Bellony Nzemenoh

Bellony Nzemenoh, a second-year student at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), received the 2017 Excellence in Medicine Minority Scholars Award from the American Medical Association Foundation.
Inspired by her upbringing in Cameroon until age 9 when her family moved to Maryland, Nzemenoh is committed to increasing diversity and equality in healthcare. She serves on the Diversity Planning Committee for the spring Festival of Cultures at MCW, celebrating difference and promoting awareness of inclusion, and as co-president of the American Medical Student Association. She is a Student National Medical Association mentor for a high school student and is also helping launch the Student Health Initiative for Pipeline Programs, which will encourage middle and high school and undergraduate students to pursue careers in science and medicine.
This summer, Nzemenoh is in Croatia conducting research as a Global Health Kohler Scholar. She said she hopes her time there will help her with her future goals of building hospitals and educating physicians in third world nations.
