Notable Health Care Leaders: Ann Rovito

Class of 2023

Ann Rovito, director of clinical engineering at Wauwatosa-based Children’s Wisconsin, works behind the scenes to ensure frontline care providers can do what they do best.

“Ann leads a small, yet mighty team of engineers and technicians who support the management of medical equipment throughout the system,” said Peggy Troy, president and chief executive officer of Children’s Wisconsin. “Just like our doctors and nurses care for kids, the clinical engineering team cares for the equipment that supports that care.”

The team is responsible for maintaining and fixing the 20,275-plus pieces of medical equipment in Children’s Milwaukee and Fox Valley hospitals as well as its more than two dozen community clinics. This vital diagnostic, life-saving equipment ranges from isolettes and ventilators to MRIs and surgical robots, and everything in between.

This year alone, Rovito’s team has handled more than 6,800 repair and preventive maintenance requests, according to Troy.
