Michael L. Riopel has joined von Briesen & Roper, s.c. as a Principal Associate in the Milwaukee office. Riopel focuses his practice on the structuring, documentation and negotiation of complex financing, real estate, and business transactions using his background in commercial finance, restructuring and real estate matters. Riopel has significant experience with unique financial tools such as PACE Equity, New Markets Tax Credits, Historical Tax Credits and Tax Incremental Financing.
Prior to joining von Briesen, Riopel worked in-house for a commercial real estate development, investment and property management firm where he managed their extensive loan portfolio, investor and financial institution relationships and drafted, negotiated and oversaw the disposition of their real estate assets.
Riopel is a member of NAIOP where he serves as the Chair of the Programs and Events Committee and he received the 2016 National NAIOP Developing Leader Award. He is a member of the Advisory Board for the Marquette University Center for Real Estate and a founding Board Member of the Real Estate Alumni of Marquette (REALM) Network. He also serves on the Lending Advisory Board for ACTS Lending, the lending unit of ACTS Housing, a local non-profit dedicated to enabling low-income home ownership.
Riopel is a member of the Major Gifts Committee and the Conservation Committee of Tall Pines Conservancy, a nonprofit working to preserve Northwestern Waukesha County’s farmland, water resources and natural areas and open spaces.
Riopel is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and the Milwaukee Bar Association. He received a J.D. (2012) and a B.S. (2009) from Marquette University. He resides in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
