2019 USO “Heroes of Wisconsin” Gala honors military, veteran ready workplaces

Former Green Bay Packer and Army National Guard Specialist to present keynote

The fourth annual “Heroes of Wisconsin” Gala will recognize military members for their heroism and community service, acknowledge local businesses who proactively hire veterans, and feature a former Green Bay Packers’ lineman and Super Bowl champion who now serves in the military.

The black-tie celebration and fundraiser will take place on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at the Potawatomi Hotel & Casino, 1721 West Canal St., Milwaukee. The event is hosted by USO Wisconsin, a non-profit organization focused on strengthening the bonds for military service members by keeping them connected to family, home and country.

Daryn Colledge, who joined the Army National Guard after a successful stint with the Green Bay Packers, is the event’s keynote speaker. Colledge will share stories from the 2010 Super Bowl and explain why he chose to join the military and serve his country following a football career.

A cocktail hour and silent auction at 5:00 p.m. kick off the evening with a dinner, speakers and awards to follow.

Those being honored as “Heroes of Wisconsin” this year include:

Army: Captain Cody Anderson – Grafton

Marine Corps: Michael Seppa – Milwaukee

Navy: Operations Specialist, Second Class Amanda Jackson – Milwaukee

Air Force: Andrew Marriott – Grafton

Coast Guard: Petty Officer, Second Class Ben Trahan – Milwaukee 

Family of the Fallen: Staff Sergeant Andrew L. Bossert – Fountain City

In addition, five Wisconsin businesses will be honored as “Veteran Ready Workplaces” and one will be chosen as the top company:

BMO Harris Bank

GE Healthcare

Logistics Health Inc.

US Bank

Summerfest will receive the “Community Partner Award” and a “USO Volunteer of the Year” will also be presented.
