Local chapter and longtime member honored by global parent organization, names new leaders
ACG Wisconsin, the Milwaukee-based chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth, has been recognized as one of three ACG Chapters of the Year. ACG is a global community for professionals in the mergers and acquisitions, corporate growth and corporate development fields.
The other chapters recognized were ACG Philadelphia and ACG Portland, Ore.
“These three award-winning chapters have set an outstanding example of how innovative programming, marketing and service provides value to ACG members,” said Harris Smith, ACG Chairman and Managing Partner, Private Equity, Grant Thornton, LLC. “ACG’s Philadelphia, Portland and Wisconsin chapters have raised the bar of excellence and exemplify how ACG can help members increase deal flow and business opportunities.”
ACG Wisconsin has grown its membership, programming and community outreach significantly in recent years. The chapter was involved this year in the ACG Cup, a competition between MBA-level university students throughout the state.
“I am so very pleased that our ACG-Wisconsin board, committee chairs and our many committee members are receiving this incredible recognition,” said Linda Mertz, president of Mertz Associates, Inc. and immediate past president of ACG Wisconsin. “This award is a wonderful motivation as we enter our summer-time strategic planning session. We have a lot of passion and ability throughout our chapter. Thinking about how we involve more quality people and add more value for our members is exciting.”
ACG also presented Paul Stewart, partner at Milwaukee-based PS Capital Partners and a longtime ACG Wisconsin member, with a meritorious service award. Stewart is ACG’s immediate past chairman of the ACG Global Board of Directors.
Both awards were presented at InterGrowth, ACG’s annual conference, held May 12-14 in Las Vegas.
ACG Wisconsin also recently elected a new president and new vice presidents. They are:
- Ron Miller, Cleary Gull Inc. – president
- Karin Gale of Schenck Business Solutions – vice president programs
- Steve Peterson, Brass Ring Capital – vice president programs
- Bruce Johnson, AON, vice president membership
- John Scheibel, Scheibel Halaska Inc., vice president communications
- Jeffrey Trader, Valuation Research Corp., vice president sponsorship
- Christopher Nolte, Marcus Investments LLC, vice president ACG Cup
“ACG Wisconsin has a lot of momentum between its expanded programming, focus on membership and communications and the addition of the new ACG Cup competition,” Miller said. “We have a lot going on. I’m excited about what we have achieved and where we’re going, and look forward to capitalizing on the momentum we’ve developed over the last several years. We’re going to build upon the foundation that’s been laid but there are a lot exciting new things that our leadership team is discussing that will enhance what we’ve done and enhance the offerings that we’re currently providing.”
