Lisa Mauer, chief executive officer of Milwaukee-based Rickert Industries, was elected president of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation board of directors.

The board elected new officers at its meeting Thursday at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

Mauer replaces Dan Ariens, Ariens Co. president and CEO, who was elected vice chairman. Nancy Hernandez, president and founder of Milwaukee-based ABRAZO Multicultural Marketing and Communication, was re-elected secretary, and David Drury, a partner with Milwaukee-based Wing Capital Group, was re-elected treasurer.

Mauer has been on the board since 2011 and pledged to focus on the strategic positioning of WEDC “as it continues to grow and make a tremendous difference in Wisconsin’s economic development landscape.”

“Our journey is about outreach and continuous improvement as we work together to support state, regional and local economic development efforts, as well as provide transparency and accountability to the governor, the Legislature and Wisconsin taxpayers,” Mauer said.

The board also added two new members in James Ladwig, president and CEO, Racine Area Manufacturers and Commerce, and R.D. Nair, professor of accounting and information systems at the Wisconsin School of Business.

Arthur covers banking and finance and the economy at BizTimes while also leading special projects as an associate editor. He also spent five years covering manufacturing at BizTimes. He previously was managing editor at The Waukesha Freeman. He is a graduate of Carroll University and did graduate coursework at Marquette. A native of southeastern Wisconsin, he is also a nationally certified gymnastics judge and enjoys golf on the weekends.
