Concordia University Wisconsin, Mequon will host a book signing event with Jonathan Alter, senior editor at Newsweek on Thursday, Aug. 19 at 7 p.m. at the Todd Wehr Auditorium on campus.
Alter’s new book, The Promise: President Obama, Year One, has been on the New York Times best seller list for eight weeks and counting. Alter describes an insider’s account of the President and his administration, from his election day through the passage of health care reform.
“We are pleased to host this presentation and welcome Jonathan Alter to Concordia University Wisconsin,” said Patrick Ferry University President, “As an historian, I have always enjoyed presidential biographies and I am certain the author’s discussion will be enjoyable and engaging.”
Attendees will experience first hand accounts of the tensions that exist between president Obama and the Clinton’s, how he crashed the December 2009 Copenhagen Conference on Climate Change, and how the Obama team pleaded with him not to pursue a health care agenda.
Topics covering the influence of his wife, Michelle, and the confrontation between Obama and General Patreus over Afghanistan will also be covered.
