The Milwaukee Bucks’ Robert Indiana-inspired court will make its regular season debut tonight when they take on the Washington Wizards at 7 p.m. at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
The first 5,000 fans will receive a print of the new court, commemorating the first regular season home game played on the floor. Also, fans ages 14 and under will be invited to shoot a free throw on the court after the game.
“We practiced on it (Tuesday), and it’s great,” said forward John Henson. “It feels good on my knees and it looks great. I know our fans liked the look of it, too, and we hope they’ll come on out and see us in action.”
O.J. Mayo echoed his teammate’s remarks: “It’s a really good court, good design, and we look forward to playing on it.”
The Bucks unveiled the new court design at an event on Sept. 24 at the Milwaukee Art Museum and used the court for the team’s annual open practice on Oct. 5 and first home preseason game on Oct. 12. In the team’s final preseason game on Oct. 25, the court was ruled unplayable by NBA officials due to excessive slipping by players, and the game was cancelled midway through the first period. The new court was completely resurfaced to ensure player safety.
The Bucks have lost nine consecutive games.
