Chr. Hansen, Inc.

UnitedHealthcare recognized Chr. Hansen, Inc. for implementing a successful workplace wellness program to improve the health and well-being of their employees.

Chr. Hansen, Inc. was one of 10 companies across the United States awarded with a UnitedHealthcare “Well Deserved” award for its year-long wellness program that produced a culture of wellness in the workplace.

Chr. Hansen, Inc. distinguished itself by creating an innovative wellness program that incorporates all tenets of well-being including purpose, social, community, physical, and financial. The program engages employees and their spouses to participate in activities such as preventive screens, weight loss and financial well-being programs, on-site health coaching and yoga, physical activity challenges, and volunteer opportunities.

“Chr. Hansen, Inc. has set a great example of how companies can support their employees’ desire to improve their health,” said Dustin Hinton, president and CEO, UnitedHealthcare of Wisconsin. “Most employees with access to wellness programs say they make a positive impact on their health, and employers may benefit as well from increased employee satisfaction, lower absenteeism, increased productivity and lower medical costs.”

“At Chr. Hansen, we strongly believe if we can make health and wellness as much a part of our employee’s daily lives and make it as routine as coming to work, our employees, their families and our company will all benefit,” said David Carpenter, president, Chr. Hansen, Inc. “We’ve seen some great results from our wellness program and continuing to engage our employees in fun activities while improving their overall well-being is a win-win.”
This is UnitedHealthcare’s ninth year of recognizing employers who demonstrate a commitment to improving their employees’ health and well-being through innovative wellness programs. UnitedHealthcare worked with an external broker review panel to review and judge all Well Deserved award applicants.

A recent analysis by UnitedHealthcare demonstrated that employees of Well Deserved award winners showed positive health care decision-making in many key areas including wellness and preventive screening compliance, selecting appropriate places of care, and using care providers that rank highly in terms of quality care and cost-efficiency.
