Joshua M. Engelkemier, Ph.D., has joined Michael Best’s Milwaukee office as a patent scientist in the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group and Life Sciences Industry Team.
Engelkemier assists clients with the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in the chemical, material, and life sciences, as well as contributing to freedom to operate and patentability opinions. He acquired a deep understanding of molecular and materials science during his time as a research chemist, particularly in regard to electrochemical cells, metallurgy, and nanotechnology.
Engelkemier originally joined Michael Best as a member of the EDGE internship program. Prior to joining the firm, he earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where his thesis research provided insight into structure-property relationships of complex intermetallic compounds, and his B.S. in Chemistry, magna cum laude, from Iowa State University.
