Rikki Hullinger, Ph.D., has joined Michael Best & Friedrich LLP as a patent scientist in the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group and Life Sciences and Chemical subgroup. Hullinger has a background in neuroscience, with broad experience in biochemistry, cell culture, animal models, molecular biology, electrophysiology and surgical techniques.
Prior to joining Michael Best, Hullinger was a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she studied the role of metabotropic glutamate receptors and downstream signaling cascades in successful cognitive aging in the rat. Additionally, she studied the secretory pathway of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and identified a novel role for the ER membrane acetyl-coA transporter AT-1 in the development of autism spectrum disorder in a mouse model.
Hullinger received her Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2015 and her B.S. in Neuroscience from the University of Michigan in 2010.
Her volunteer efforts include participation in various outreach activities promoting education in science for adolescents from minority and low income groups, including the Expanding Your Horizons conference and teaching high school students in the Pre-College Enrichment Opportunity for Learning Excellence (PEOPLE) program.
