Zizzo garners MU’s Spirit of Marquette Award

Zizzo Group Advertising founder Anne Marie Zizzo will receive Marquette University’s Spirit of Marquette Award at the National Alumni Awards Celebration this weekend.

Zizzo, a 1987 graduate of Marquette’s College of Journalism, is one of six persons who will receive All-University awards at various events at the university. Additionally, several other persons, including Cyganiak Planning president John A. Cyganiak, will be honored by Marquette’s colleges.
Zizzo launched her advertising firm in her basement in 1995. The company has grown into an award-winning marketing, advertising, public relations and creative strategies firm, serving clients across the United States and in Europe.
Zizzo Group Advertising, based in downtown Milwaukee, projects $20 million in billings this year.
Noting the calibre of the other people being honored with awards this year, Zizzo said "it’s one of the most humbling recognitions a person could receive."
Other winners include Boyle Fleming & Co. managing director Richard J. Boyle, Lt.Gov. Margaret Farrow, PBS executive producer Margaret A. Drain, Dr. Abraham J. Twerski, and cardiologist Terrance N. Fisher.
Zizzo credits the standards and "transformational experience" she encountered in her years at Marquette as a big factor in her s success.
Her award will be bestowed at a Saturday, April 27 dinner at Marquette.
Cyganiak, a 1961 liberal arts graduate, was honored on April 25 with the Distinguished Alumnus Award for the College of Arts & Sciences. His award recognizes his support of Marquette, including his firm’s long-time sponsorship of Marquette basketball game radio broadcasts.
Other local persons being honored include James Janz. CEO, administration and finance, Zilber Ltd. and Towne Group, Milwaukee; Michael L. Parey, owner, Paresources, Elm Grove; William W. Belson III, director of engineering, Bruno Independent Living Aids, Oconomowoc, Joseph Bennett, retired chairman, Construction Forms, Port Washington, and Robert A.
