WTMJ-4 and Time Warner reach agreement

Milwaukee-based media company Journal Broadcast Group announced today it has come to an agreement with Time Warner Cable after a standoff that left local television station WTMJ-TV off the air for 59 days.

The companies have penned a long-term retransmission consent agreement to carry Journal TV stations in Milwaukee, Green Bay/Appleton, Omaha, Nashville, and Palm Springs.

WTMJ, which carries NFL Sunday Night Football and NBC/CBS programming, is expected to return to the airwaves later today.

“This is the result we were working so hard to achieve. It was essential for us to receive fair market value for our products and services so that we can continue to invest in the high-quality local and network programming our viewers deserve,” said Andre
Fernandez, president and CFO of Journal Communications.

In the undisclosed agreement, Journal will continue to control the TV Everywhere rights for live steaming of network programs to computers, phones and tablets.

WTMJ will now be on channel 2 in analog and SD in the Milwaukee market and will remain on 1004 in HD.
