WMEP to host Manufacturing Matters! conference

The Wisconsin Manufacturing Extension Partnership will host its Manufacturing Matters! conference on May 9, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Frontier Airlines Center in Milwaukee.

The program is focused on issues that are critical to manufacturers in the region and aims to also connect companies with resources that can assist them.
There are two channels at the daylong conference, executive and operations, which will provide insight for both company leaders and day-to-day managers, said Buckley Brinkman, executive director of WMEP.
“That’s asking a lot from busy manufacturers that they spend a whole day away from the plant. Our goal is to make it worthwhile,” said Debra Oakes, marketing operations manager at WMEP.
This is the 15th year the event has been held. This year’s event is focused on the future of manufacturing and aims to help leaders develop strategic plans to deal with global economic changes that affect their business.
“It’s just a really interesting and critical time for manufacturing in the State of Wisconsin,” Brinkman said. “We’re either going to address the issues facing us or other states are going to addres the issues and take the jobs away from us.”
New this year is a food and feed track for agriculture and food processing company leaders. Keynote speakers will be Tim Sullivan, former CEO of Bucyrus and Aaron Jagdfeld, president and CEO of Generac.
