WMC’s Bauer to chair national trade group

Third WMC leader to fill position

The Council of State Manufacturers Associations has elected Kurt Bauer, the president and chief executive officer of Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce, to chair the national organization for the next two years.

COSMA represents manufacturing trade associations in all 50 states and Peurto Rico. The group also partners with the Washington D.C.-based National Association of Manufacturers.

“Manufacturing is critical to the state and national economy, and I look forward to working with my colleagues across the country to strengthen the industry,” said Bauer.

Bauer is the third chief executive from WMC to lead COSMA, following Jim Haney and Paul Hassett.

Arthur covers banking and finance and the economy at BizTimes while also leading special projects as an associate editor. He also spent five years covering manufacturing at BizTimes. He previously was managing editor at The Waukesha Freeman. He is a graduate of Carroll University and did graduate coursework at Marquette. A native of southeastern Wisconsin, he is also a nationally certified gymnastics judge and enjoys golf on the weekends.
