Wisconsin lands federal grant to build LEED accelerator in Wauwatosa

Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle recently announced a $5.4 million U.S. Economic Development Administration grant to the City of Wauwatosa and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Real Estate Foundation Inc. to build a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified business accelerator and industrial park site to accommodate the region’s advanced manufacturing sector.
The project includes the construction of a 25,000-square-foot LEED certified business accelerator, new roadway infrastructure and the extension of utilities. The funding will help advance manufacturing businesses giving them access to state-of-the-art laboratories and faculty at UWM.
“Strengthening Wisconsin’s economy and giving our workers a competitive advantage has always been one of my top priorities,” Doyle said. “This project will assist Wisconsin’s manufacturing sector to expand and helps create a stronger economic future for the state.”
EDA is an agency within the U.S. Department of Commerce that partners with distressed communities throughout the United States to foster economic growth and job creation.
