Wisconsin has 10 firms on 2016 Fortune 500 list

Wisconsin has 10 companies on the new Fortune 500 list, up from eight in 2015. Click here to see the entire Fortune 500 list.

Wisconsin is tied with Missouri and Tennessee with the 16th most Fortune 500 companies of the 50 states. New York has the most with 54, followed by California with 53, Texas with 52, Illinois with 33 and Ohio with 25.

Walmart tops the list, followed by Exxon Mobile and Apple.

The Wisconsin-based companies on the Fortune 500 list are:

  • Johnson Controls, 70
  • Northwestern Mutual, 100
  • ManpowerGroup, 144
  • Kohl’s, 145
  • American Family Insurance Group, 332
  • Rockwell Automation, 412
  • Oshkosh, 424
  • Harley-Davidson, 432
  • WEC Energy, 437
  • Fiserv, 492

WEC Energy and Fiserv are the two Wisconsin-based companies that are on the 2016 Fortune 500 list and were not on the list last year. WEC Energy was created by Wisconsin Energy Corp.’s acquisition of Integrys. Fiserv improved from its ranking of 512 a year ago.
