Wisconsin companies rank among Best Corporate Citizens

Johnson Controls Inc., Wisconsin Energy Corp., Rockwell Automation Inc. and Manpower Group are the Wisconsin-based companies represented in the 100 Best Corporate Citizens List compiled by Corporate Responsibility Magazine.

For the list, every company in the Russell 1000 Index of publicly held U.S. companies, is ranked according to over 320 data points of information. The methodology for generating the list is governed by a Methodology Committee of the Corporate Responsibility Officers Association (CROA). The companies are ranked according to their performances in seven key areas: environment, climate change, human rights, philanthropy, employee relations, financial and governance.
Glendale-based Johnson Controls ranked fifth on the list.
“We are honored to be ranked number five by Corporate Responsibility Magazine in its annual Best Corporate Citizens list,” said Stephen Roell, chairman and chief executive officer of Johnson Controls. “This achievement is due to our employees who bring the spirit and focus of CR Magazine’s criteria for this ranking to their work every day. As a company, we are committed to the environment, human rights and the communities where our employees live and work.”
Milwaukee-based Wisconsin Energy ranked 82nd, making the list for the fifth consecutive year.
“We’re very pleased to again receive this honor,” said Gale Klappa, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Wisconsin Energy. “It underscores our commitment to transparency, accountability, customer satisfaction and helping to create brighter futures in the communities we serve.”
Milwaukee-based Rockwell Automation ranked 87th on the list, and Milwaukee-based Manpower ranked 94th.
Elliot Clark, CEO of SharedXpertise Media, which publishes CR Magazine and produces the Commit!Forum, said, “This is the 13th annual CR Magazine ‘100 Best Corporate Citizens List,’ and we are gratified to see improved consistency among the transparency leaders in the Russell 1000. The top-ranked company of the 2012 list is Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. IBM, Microsoft Corp. and Intel Corp. joined Johnson Controls in the top five.
