William Beckett

CHRYSPAC
130 W. Edgerton Ave., Milwaukee
Industry: Manufacturing
William Beckett, president and chief executive officer of Milwaukee-based CHRYSPAC has not always been a manufacturer. He has more than 37 years of experience in venture capitalism, banking and finance, which has helped him develop a unique skill set that has proved beneficial in running his company.
CHRYSPAC manages high-quality, high-touch and semi-automated processes that are incompatible with high-tech environments. The company helps manufacturers and commercial businesses lower overhead costs and maintain quality by providing customized outsource services in assembling, aesthetic visual inspection, testing, sorting, kitting, shrink packaging, re-working, fulfillment and distribution.
What sets CHRYSPAC apart from many other manufacturing companies is that the company’s philosophy is to hire unskilled workers in hopes of training them and giving them a chance to succeed in life. Beckett says that CHRYSPAC is about more than just producing products, it is about developing people. People who may have no higher education or know nothing about manufacturing are given an opportunity to learn, enhancing themselves and CHRYSPAC.
CHRYSPAC had impressive growth in its first few years but Beckett acknowledges that the company has had plenty of ups and downs during the years, and the biggest down occurred during the Great Recession. It took the dedication of the company’s entire workforce to survive the recession and continue to grow afterwards, he said.
CHRYSPAC outgrew its former facility and moved in June 2010 from a 20,000-square-foot facility to a 33,000-square-foot facility.
