Wheaton Franciscan plans new clinic on former St. Michael’s Hospital site

Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare plans to build a new 27,000-square-foot outpatient family clinic at the former St. Michael’s Hospital site northeast of West Villard Avenue and North 25th Street on the north side of Milwaukee.

The clinic building will be significantly smaller than the hospital building, which is currently being demolished. Wheaton Franciscan plans to build the clinic on the east side of the 13-acre property to preserve other portions of the site for future uses.

In documents filed with the city, Wheaton Franciscan said the clinic will be designed for 29 practitioners and 32 support staff, or a total employment of 61. Wheaton Franciscan said it hopes that demand for services at the clinic will allow it to add additional staff.
