WCJ Pilgrim acquires assets, client list from Connecticut competitor

WCJ Pilgrim Wire, a Glendale-based manufacturer and distributor of wire used in the box stitching and printing industries, has purchased selected wire business assets from Stanley Bostitch’s Connecticut facility. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Earlier this year, WCJ bought several pieces of machinery from Stanley Bostitch’s wire facility, which had been closed. Early this month, the company bought the company’s customer list and inventory for its box stitching, bookbinding stitching and thredlok wire lines.

The purchase has produced immediate results for WCJ – the company expects its business to increase by 20 percent by the end of the year, according to Bill Jones, president and owner of the company.

“As their customers order, (we’re fulfilling orders for them) and we’re filling all open orders that transition to us,” he said. “It’s pretty much immediate.”

WCJ is headquartered in Glendale and has warehouses in Los Angeles, Seattle, Houston, Kentucky, Canada and Mexico. It is also a partner in a joint wire production venture in China, Jones said.

The company has 15 employees total, with 10 of those workers in Glendale. WCJ will add two employees in late November as a result of the acquisition and the anticipated growth.
