Wauwatosa Days Inn sold for $2.7 million for conversion to student housing

Wisconsin International Academy Inc. recently purchased the 127-room Days Inn hotel at 11811 W. Bluemound Road in Wauwatosa for $2.656 million, according to state records.

Wisconsin International Academy plans to convert the hotel into a student housing facility for Chinese students attending high schools in the Milwaukee area. Up to 205 students could live at the facility, which is expected to open this fall with about 140 students.

There are five high schools participating in the program.

The organization plans to convert the pool area at the hotel into a gym for the student residents. Eventually athletic fields could be added to the site.

The hotel was sold by Greenfield-based Wauwatosa Hotel Group LLC.
