WAUPUN – Low bids help float Waupun pool budget

After years of planning, the city of Waupun will break ground next month for a new aquatic center on the city’s east side.

City Administrator Kyle Clark said council members were pleased to see bids come in nearly $1 million under the proposed project costs.

“We had estimated the cost of the aquatic facility and buildings to be about $5.3 million. Our lowest bids came in at about $4.2 million, which is really good news for the city,” Clark said.
The Waupun Common Council voted Tuesday night during a special Committee of the Whole meeting to accept the low bid from Neuman Pools of Beaver Dam for the pool and mechanical construction and from Marso Construction of Franklin, Wis., for general construction. Based on bid specifications, Clark said the start date of the project is Sept. 9.
