The Water Council today announced the companies that will take part in the third round of its The BREW accelerator program.
The Milwaukee-based organization, which aims to make Milwaukee a top name in water, made the announcement during the eighth annual Water Summit, which was held in Milwaukee Wednesday and Thursday.
The BREW, which stands for Business. Research. Entrepreneurship. in Wisconsin., brings innovative water technology startup companies to the Global Water Center to participate in programming designed to rapidly advance their growth. It is a collaboration between the Water Council and the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp.
Startups in Batch 3 that have the potential to commercialize their technology will receive up to $50,000 in investments, subsidized space in the Global Water Center, training from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Institute for Water Business, and mentorship from area water technology experts.
The companies chosen for the third round of the accelerator program are:
• Optiktechnik; Dr. Jose Ramirez and Dr. Rudi Strickler; Milwaukee. Makes optical sensors and instrumentation to more accurately monitor and control key particle processes in water and wastewater treatment.
• Radom Corp.; Ashok Menon; Hales Corners. Instrumentation regularly measures toxic trace metals in water, wastewater, industrial processes, food and drugs.
• Solar Water Works; Doug Winkie; Madison. Solar water treatment systems.
• IX Power Clean Water; John Grizz Deal; Golden, Colo. OrganiClear treatment cleans water produced in oil and gas, mining, manufacturing and construction.
• ICONAC; Harrison Richarz and Ryan Seideman; Ontario, Canada. Low cost, easy to use non-invasive pipe condition assessment tool used for proactive water asset management.
• OXYMem; Wayne Bryne; Ireland. Membrane Aerated Biofilm Reactor dramatically increases oxygen transfer rates in wastewater treatment.
