Wasserman weighs county exec bid, Richards declines

Former Democratic state Rep. Sheldon Wasserman tells WisPolitics he’s considering a bid for Milwaukee County executive, while state Rep. Jon Richards says he’s not interested in the county job.
Wasserman, who left his Assembly seat in 2008 to unsuccessfully challenge state Sen. Alberta Darling (R-River Hills), said he plans to make a final decision within a few weeks.
Richards, meanwhile, said a run wouldn’t be the right decision "at this stage in my family’s life."
Wasserman had $10,175 left his in his state campaign account that he could use as seed money for a bid, and the OB/GYN said he’s willing to use personal resources for a run if he decides to get in. He said donors are tapped out after donating heavily to this fall’s campaigns, so a personal commitment would provide a significant boost.
