Walker sets special elections to fill seats

Two Republican lawmakers from southeastern Wisconsin who went into the Walker administration will be replaced in special elections on May 3.
Mark Gottlieb, R-Port Washington, went from the Assembly to DOT secretary. Scott Gunderson, R-Waterford, went from the Assembly to executive assistant at DNR.
Nomination papers may now be circulated, and if necessary, a primary will be held in conjunction with the spring general election on April 5.
A third GOP Assemblyman, Mike Huebsch, went from his La Crosse-area seat to head Walker’s Department of Administration. A special election for his seat is also set for May 3.
The elections likely won’t affect the GOP’s strong Assembly majority.
