Walgreens and Aldi stores planned for Town of Waukesha site

Waukesha-based MRED Cummings plans to develop 15,168-square-foot Walgreens store and a 15,808-square-foot Aldi store on a four-acre site at the southwest corner of Sunset Drive and Genesee Road in the Town of Waukesha.

The property is currently residential and MRED plans to tear down five homes to make way for the retail development.

The site is at a busy intersection where about 28,000 to 30,000 vehicles pass per day, double the traffic that passed the Shoppes at Fox River on Sunset Drive in the City of Waukesha, said Mark Lake, vice president of MRED Cummings.

The location also fits in a hole for Walgreens and Aldi. The closest Walgreens store is three miles away and Aldi has “enough customers in the area and they want to be here,” Lake said.
