Voters throw out several incumbent mayors

Tuesday’s election proved to be a bad day for many southeastern Wisconsin incumbents, as the mayors of Waukesha, Cudahy, Oconomowoc and Brookfield each lost to challengers.
Newcomer Jeff Scrima beat first-term Mayor Larry Nelson in Waukesha.
Retired banker Tony Day beat incumbent Mayor Ryan McCue in Cudahy.
Alderman Steve Ponto beat two-term Mayor Jeff Speaker in Brookfield.
Tavern owner and attorney James Daley beat three-term incumbent Maury Sullivan in Oconomowoc.
Local incumbent mayors who managed to retain their seats Tuesday included Thomas Zepecki in South Milwaukee and Scott Klein in Pewaukee.
Germantown residents elected Village Trustee Dean Wolter as their next village president Tuesday. Wolter defeated Charles Hargan, who was seeking to return to the office after losing it in 2007 Thomas Kempinski, who did not seek re-election to a second term.
