Volunteer center seeks nominations for annual awards

The Volunteer Center of Greater Milwaukee is accepting nominations for the 30th annual Inspire By Example Awards. The awards recognize both individual and corporate volunteers who have led by example in their community.
Categories include an adult, youth and team volunteer award, a Business Excellence Award to a local firm for exceptional efforts in supporting employee volunteerism; a Wile Volunteer Management Award to a professional volunteer manager, and the Fran Swigart Board Leadership Award to an outstanding nonprofit Board leader.
“These awards are an opportunity to recognize volunteers who help our community in countless ways,” said Bonnie Andrews, manager of the Volunteer Center.  “It is not only about those who put in untold time and energy, but also about the unique and innovative contributions of short-term project volunteers and others who have a community impact.”
Nonprofits supported by the winners will each receive a $1,000.  This donation amount was doubled this year to celebrate the event’s 30th anniversary.  Winners will be honored at the Volunteer Celebration luncheon April 12th to kick off National Volunteer Week.
