UPAF surpasses 2011 campaign goal

The United Performing Arts Fund (UPAF) has surpassed its 2011 campaign goal by raising $9,743,651 million for its members and affiliate groups.
"Surpassing our goal is a significant accomplishment," said Curt Culver, chairman of MGIC Investment Corp and co-chair of the campaign, "particularly when we faced significant losses coming into the campaign."
Culver co-chaired the 2011 campaign with Tina Chang, chief executive officer of Syslogic in Brookfield. The committee had a goal of raising $9.65 million.
"UPAF is grateful to the community for its support of our 2011 Campaign," said Cristy Garcia-Thomas, UPAF President. "We are thankful to Tina and Curt for providing such exceptional leadership for this year’s campaign, for all the hard work put in by our outstanding Campaign Cabinet, and for the time and talent of hundreds of volunteers that helped make this year’s campaign a success. It truly is a group effort and everyone’s contribution really does make a difference."
The announcement also honored several individuals and businesses for their support of UPAF. Honorees included North Shore Bank and Rockwell Automation.
Stephen Marcus, chairman of Marcus Corporation received the Maestro Award for his leadership and Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele, received the Mrs Walter H. Steinke Award for his philanthropic efforts with the Argosy Foundation.
"To make this campaign successful, it took many engaged people who didn’t take ‘no’ as an answer, who put the performing arts on the top of their priority list and encouraged others to do the same," said Chang. "Thanks to their efforts, the dynamic performing arts scene we enjoy in our community will continue to thrive."
