United Way of Washington County campaign brings in record total

7.6 percent increase over 2017

The campaign co-chairs included Commerce State Bank executives Joe Fazio, Tom Hopp and Kevin Volm.

The United Way of Washington County’s annual campaign brought in a record $1.67 million for local health and human service programs, the organization announced at a campaign celebration Wednesday.

The campaign co-chairs included Commerce State Bank executives Joe Fazio, Tom Hopp and Kevin Volm.

The 2018 total topped the organization’s previous record in 2017 by 7.6 percent.

The campaign was chaired by three Commerce State Bank executives: Joe Fazio, chairman and chief executive officer; Tom Hopp, president and co-founder; and Kevin Volm, chief credit/risk officer and corporate secretary.

”Today and every day communities throughout Washington County win because of the United Way and each of its donors,” said Joe Fazio, campaign co-chair. “Every one of them is making a choice to put the needs of another person ahead of their own. As campaign chairs, we found the generosity of the Washington County community humbling. We carried the torch of the campaign, but it’s the donors and all the volunteers who made it a success. This community made the goal, raised the most money in its history, with the largest percentage and dollar increases ever.”

The United Way of Washington County said its campaign giving has increased by 54 percent since 2010.

The organization named a few highlights from the 2018 campaign including:

  • More than 50 companies held early campaigns and raised more than $664,539.
  • With a dollar-for-dollar match from West Bend Mutual Insurance and Commerce State Bank, the organization’s Emerging Leaders group raised more than $144,000.
  • Delta Defense had the highest dollar increase, raising more than $30,000 in new employee and corporate giving.

“This truly was a united effort,” said Kristin Brandner, executive director of United Way of Washington County. “Because together we can accomplish so much more than any single organization on its own.”

United Way of Washington County invests in more than 27 prevention and intervention programs related to improving education, financial stability and health.
