Two Brown Deer Road strip malls to be sold at auction

Retail stretch has struggled since Northridge Mall closed

The Sequoia Centere on Brown Deer Road will be auctioned on June 13.

Two shopping centers on Brown Deer Road in Milwaukee are being sold in online auctions next month.

The first, Sequoia Centre, 6801-6917 W. Brown Deer Road, is a 35,412-square-foot strip mall built in 1989, with 15 retail spaces ranging in size from 1,240 to 5,580 square feet. Fourteen of the spaces are occupied.

The property is anchored by the U.S. Postal Service. Other tenants include Pizza Hut, Mayfair Rent-a-Car and a Payday Loan Store.

The starting bid on the property is $900,000, beginning June 13.

The second property to be sold is the Pavilion Plaza, 6900-6924 W. Brown Deer Road. The plaza is a 25,600-square-foot shopping center built in 1974 that is 54 percent occupied. The property is anchored by Anytime Fitness.

The starting bid on the property is $300,000, beginning June 28. Both auctions will be held over two days at www. ten-x.com.

Since Northridge Mall closed in 2003, many retailers located between North 60th and 91st streets on Brown Deer Road have closed, including Best Buy, Lowe’s, Walgreens, Stein’s Gardens and Gifts, Circuit City and Stein Mart.

Toys “R” Us closed its store at 8825 N. 76th St. at the end of April and Target Corp. closed its Northridge store at 8501 W. Brown Deer Road on Jan. 30, 2016.
