Total Wine & More is moving forward with plans to open a store at
Bayshore shopping center in Glendale late this summer.
The Bethesda, Maryland-based chain will take over the former Sports Authority space
on the northwest side of the property as its forth Wisconsin location, joining stores at Brownstones Shopping Center in Brookfield, 84South in Greenfield, and in Madison.
That two-story, 25,000-square-foot building has sat vacant since 2016 when the sporting goods retailer went out of business.

has been saying it would join Bayshore's tenant list for just as long, so Thursday's announcement from Bayshore's operator Cypress Equities was a long time coming.
The
original plan in 2016 was to open at the former Sears site as part of a larger redevelopment of the north end of the property, which also included a Nordstrom Rack. That project fell through as the mall crumbled financially under previous ownership.
Four years later, a multimillion-dollar redevelopment project is underway throughout the property to downsize retail space, demolish or convert existing buildings for other uses, and better connecting Bayshore with the surrounding neighborhood’s streets and pedestrian walkways.
Total Wine & More has been included in Cypress' redevelopment plans for Bayshore from the start, appearing in renderings and included on tenant listings.

Demolition of the original enclosed mall area at Bayshore began this spring. It will be replaced by a mixed-use development featuring a hotel, multi-family residential units and senior housing.
The green space in the center of the property, now called 'The Yard' is currently being upgraded for-year round events. It features a large LED screen that has been installed on an adjacent building.
The project is expected to be completed by December 2020.
As part of Bayshore's makeover, Cypress has also promised the addition of
more local and national retailers and restaurant concepts.
The indoor portion of the center has been closed for construction since March, just in time for state-mandated mall closures due to COVID-19. A number of Bayshore's businesses like Trader Joe’s, medical service providers, banks and restaurants offering carryout service remained opened under state and local stay-at-home restrictions.
