Total Quality Plastics closes

Total Quality Plastics Inc. in North Prairie has closed its doors, leaving all 32 employees out of work.

The company submitted a WARN notice to the state Department of Workforce Development on July 12, the day it closed, reporting the layoff and closure.

“On Thursday, July 11, we entered into an agreement to sell the assets of Total Quality Products. Therefore, we ceased production on Friday the 12th,” said Pat Whitmore, vice president of administration.

In its WARN notice, TQP said employees who do not receive 60 days’ notice of the closure will receive “the appropriate period of continued pay and benefits.”

TQP is located at 198 N. Harrison St. in North Prairie. It opened in 1992 and made custom injection molded parts. Its parent company, Janesville-based Hufcor Inc., is one of the world’s largest partition manufacturers.
